Profile

Erik Grönlund has nearly 20 years of experience in the energy industry. Most recently, he comes from his own consulting company, Modum Konsult, where he has delivered qualified consulting solutions in renewable energy to customers such as Vattenfall, Rabbalshede Kraft, Skyborn Renewables and OX2. Before that, he worked for 11 years at Vattenfall. Where he i.a. was head of the development department for onshore wind power in Sweden, which was the Swedish wind power industry's largest development department for onshore wind power, both in terms of number of employees and size of the portfolio.

Erik has unique experience regarding wind power projects and has worked in various roles with hundreds of wind power projects, with everything from lease negotiations, consultation processes, municipal approval, EIA, court negotiations, acquisitions, DD, profitability optimization, and investment decisions.

Erik grew up in the countryside outside Skövde and has a Master's degree in Engineering Physics from KTH and has also studied the Master's Program in Business Economics/Business Development at the Stockholm School of Economics. This gives Erik a solid theoretical platform in both technical and business matters.

Erik has contributed to the fact that 15 wind power projects corresponding to 4 TWh/year (3% of the country's electricity consumption) have been built or are under construction. In addition, he has participated in a large number of projects that are still in the development process, e.g. as project manager for Sweden's largest offshore wind power project, Eystrasalt Offshore.

Profile

Olle Hedberg has a multifaceted background with broad experience from several different industries and contexts. Among other things, Olle has earlier in his career been a project manager at Skanska, successfully started and ran start-ups in the Tech, construction and entertainment industries. For the past 10 years, Olle has been very successful in the energy sector and built up a name, first as a consultant in his own right on behalf of major players, most recently as CEO of Sweden's largest developer of offshore wind power.

Olle's experience includes, among other things; development of a 600 MW hydrogen plant, design and project management of 20 onshore wind projects (PBL and MB) development of a 10GW offshore wind portfolio. Olle was also the first in Sweden to develop a permit and concept strategy for sea-based hydrogen production. During his time as a consultant at WindX, Olle has also worked on compiling knowledge base and was the first to map the outcome of the municipal veto - a base that has since formed the basis of government investigations.

Over the past 5 years, Olle has successfully built up Skyborn Renewables' operations in Sweden (formerly wpd Offshore). Took the organization from 1 to 19 employees and based on own ideas established a project portfolio exceeding 10 GW.

Olle has had great success in getting local politics involved in energy investments in a municipality and has never lost a project due to the municipal veto. Through dialogue and meeting people respectfully, Olle managed to secure 4 out of 4 municipal vetoes during 2021-2022

Olle grew up on Gotland and has studied Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Södertörn University (B.Sc.) Olle has also studied a Master's in Energy Technology (M.sc) at Uppsala University with a focus on wind power development. Furthermore, Olle has studied communication at Stockholm University.

Since 2023

Newera Energy AB was founded in 2023 by Olle Hedberg and Erik Grönlund. The board consists of Erik Grönlund as chairman and Olle Hedberg as a regular member. Vinni Hedberg sits as deputy.

Newera Energy AB is 100% owned by Verdant Investment Group AB and is part of the Verdant Group, which is 50% owned by Olle Hedberg and 50% Erik Grönlund. Verdant also owns the development company Salt Offshore, which works with the development of offshore wind.

The company is based in Skövde municipality, which is located in Västergötland. The company currently has two offices, one in Skövde next to the station and one in Stockholm at Nacka Forum.
